Jolyon Hammond

Jolyon’s work in leadership and change has brought him into contact with remarkably diverse people and organisations and had him move from one side of the UK to the other. He has over 10 years’ experience in leadership development, organisational transformation and behavioural change. Coming from a background in psychotherapy and non-violent communication he is able to quickly get to the heart of the matter, and help teams do the same.

“I began my career working for a local health authority in Scotland before joining the Salisbury Centre, a pioneering stress management clinic, as Communications Director. Transforming the organisation into a profit-generating initiative remains one of the highlights of my tenure.

I then moved to London to take on a role at the Institute of Social & Ethical Accountability (AccountAbility) where I worked alongside the CEO to initiate and develop Corporate Social Responsibility programmes for multinationals such as KPMG, the Cooperative Bank, Nike and Shell. During my time at AccountAbility I realised that to truly make a difference in organisations I needed to help them breathe life into their CSR policies by ensuring their principles were fully integrated in the company.

As a result I chose to join Embercombe, a consultancy in Devon that seeks to inspire leaders, regardless of background and status, to contribute meaningfully towards the emergence of a socially just, environmentally sustainable and spiritually fulfilling life.

“The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.”

Vince Lombardi

In 2006, building on my success at Embercombe, I led a team of organisational consultants and healthcare professionals to develop and deliver a three-year wellbeing initiative, (‘Feeling Alive’) for senior leaders in a multi-national company. The intensive programme resulted in a measurable change in personal responsibility, as well as both individual and organisational health benefits.

Outside of my work, I’ve helped set up a local mentoring charity that seeks to address the escalation of self-destructive and anti-social behaviour among disenfranchised young men. This important initiative continues to go from strength to strength and the charity’s recent collaboration with the police, probation and social services has served to make a real difference to many young lives.”

Jolyon holds professional qualifications in Executive Coaching, Integrative Psychotherapy and Transactional Analysis, and is a member of the European Mentoring & Coaching Council and The Institute of Transactional Analysis.
